RTF Tutorial

Here's how to make an RTF file.

After you have completed your story, checked it over, had it beta read etc and are ready to submit it, you just convert it to an RTF file using the following steps:

Step 1

Under the file menu select SAVE AS:

Step 2

The next menu that pops up will look something like this:

Where is says Save File as Type (or something similiar depending on which word processor you are using), click on the button for the drop down menu (next to highlighted text)

Step 3

You will find Rich Text Format as an option. Select it and click OK. It is a good idea to add the rft to the file name yourself before clicking OK. Word tends to add the .doc ending to every kind of file if nothing else is added by you. I stopped using Word years ago because of all the coding that the program adds to doc files. It is a security risk and a waste of my prescious hard drive space. But Word works this same way. I don't know about other word processors. I also don't know if this is the same process used with Macs. Some mac programs do not have the option of RFT and my PC can not read mac files other than rtfs. Mac users can paste stories into Emails if all else fails.
